Pet ownership can be very rewarding especially to children learning responsibility.

Today's question for our petvet on call is -- what are some life lessons pet ownership gives kids?.

"oh my goodness, that is an endless list.

In addition to the basic responsibility of taking care of another living creature, they teach our kids loyalty and unconditional love.

They teach our kids how to be themselves and unconditional love.

They teach them to take time to play and make time to rest and even take naps.

And uncondtional love.

They teach them to drop everything that they're doing and greet their visitors and friends with enthusiasm and unconditional love.

And they also teach us to forgive and not to hold grudges.

And unconditional love.

Are you getting the point?

Every kid needs a good pet and every pet needs a good kid."

Dowe: we invite questions from anyone.

If you have one -- just send it to petvet at koamtv dot com.

Doctor eva dudek from the parsons pet hospital answers a different question every wednesday on koam news at five.

You can also find answers to previous questions on our website.

Now let's check out this week's picks of the litter.

From the joplin humane society, we've chosen bucky.

Bucky is a domestic shorthair kitten.

And from the southeast kansas humane society, we've chosen wickett -- a one-year-old boxer terrier mix.

If you're looking for a pet -- check out your local humane society.
