International Boxing Hall of Fame to induct first female boxers in 2020

Canastota has unveiled its induction class of 2020 - with seven fighters - three promoters and two journalists to be enshrined next summer.

It's a historic class with the first female boxers becoming immortalized in the hall.

Barbara buttrick - in the trailblazer category....christy martin and lucia rijker in the modern category are the first women fighters to be inducted.

They'll be joined by modern boxers bernard hopkins - juan manuel marquez and 'sugar' shane mosley to round out the class of participants.

It's entering the 31st year of the boxing hall of fame in canastota - and with this class - they say it could be the biggest yet.

Ed brophy: it's a great class of inductees we're so happy eryearn this year.

High profile fighters, 's going to be the three ladies going into the hall of fame for the firstime in history so it's reay going to be a historical hall of fame induction ceremony and induction weekend and we're very happyand to be one of the best ever.

We're anticipating about 20,000 pple that will come into canastota from around the world and it's st going to be a great time we're excited about it and we're working on it day after day to make it the best ever this year's hall of fame induction weekend in canastota is set for june 11 through 14.
