House Democrats move forward on impeachment process

Democratic Chairman of House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff on Thursday said 'we recognize that we have been compelled by the circumstances to move forward' following the Democratic-controlled House voting almost entirely along party lines to move the probe forward in Congress, which could damage President Trump ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

House Democrats move forward on impeachment process

Following bitterly divided approval of rules to oversee the impeachment inquiry into President Trump in the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday, Rep.

Adam B.

Schiff said Republican lawmakers will be allowed to question witnesses in the coming public phase of the inquiry.

The House of Representatives voted 232-196 on Thursday to establish rules for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

The vote was almost entirely on party lines, with only two Democrats opposed to the measure and zero Republicans voting in favor.

The resolution allows for public hearings and the release of transcripts of closed-door depositions, and affords Trump's attorneys the opportunity to participate in the hearings before the Judiciary Committee.
