'Chernobyl' Series Creator Asks People Not To Be Disrespectful At Disaster Site

Gizmodo reports people have been visiting the Chernobyl disaster site to take photos for their social media accounts due to the newfound interest in the area driven by the HBO series 'Chernoybyl.'

The 'Exclusion Zone' is an area deemed unsafe for human habitation and includes the abandoned city of Pripyat.

One of the Zone’s tour operators reported a 40 percent increase in trips booked this summer following the release of the five-part miniseries.

The show's creator, Craig Mazin, tweeted Tuesday, "Please remember that a terrible tragedy occurred there.

Comport yourselves with respect for all who suffered and sacrificed.”
