Giant Invasive Lizard Finally Captured in Florida

Wildlife officials have finally captured a large, invasive Asian water monitor that had been running loose in the Florida Keys for more than a year.

The Asian water monitor lizard measured 5 feet, 2 inches long and weighed 20 pounds, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

β€œStaff, volunteers and partners have been setting traps and searching high and low to remove this nonnative reptile for over a year,” the FWC said Thursday in a Facebook post.
