Tourist arrivals in Colombo to drop by 50 percent after bombings: Sri Lanka tourism chief

Tourist arrivals in Colombo will fall by 50 percent over the next two months following the Easter Sunday bombings that killed more than 250 people, Sri Lanka’s Tourism Bureau Chairman Kishu Gomes said on Monday.

Tourist arrivals in areas outside Colombo will also go down by about 30 percent following the bombings, he told reporters at a travel conference in Dubai.

Gomes said the tourism bureau was chasing a target of 2.5 million visitors in 2019.
