Trump vows all-out fight as Dems push new probes

President Donald Trump vowed on Wednesday to fight all the way to the Supreme Court against any effort by congressional Democrats to impeach him, even though the U.S. Constitution gives Congress complete authority over the impeachment process.

Nathan Frandino has more.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday left no doubt he plans to battle Democrats in Congress on every front, as they launch a wave of investigations picking up where Special Counsel Robert Mueller left off.

I say it's enough." Those investigations are already running into stiff resistance at the White House, where Trump's legal team is working to block subpoenas on everything from Trump's tax returns... to White House security clearances... to his attempted efforts to fire Mueller during his 22-month probe.

ELIJAH CUMMINGS, (D) - MARYLAND, SAYING: "He's basically trying to take away the power of the Congress and therefore the power of our constituency.

We cannot have this." Earlier on Wednesday Trump also pushed back against any possible move by congressional Democrats to impeach him, saying on Twitter if that were to happen, quote, "I would first head to the U.S. Supreme Court." It's unclear what Trump meant, since the U.S. Constitution gives Congress the "sole power" of impeachment, while the Supreme Court has no role.

Trump's show of defiance comes as Democrats remain split over how to move forward after Mueller cleared Trump of conspiracy with Russia in the 2016 race... But laid out 10 episodes Mueller said showed Trump was attempting to impede the investigation.
