Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned a series of deadly bomb attacks on Sri Lankan churches and luxury hotels on Sunday (April 21) that killed more than 200 people and injured 450.

Modi was addressing an election rally in northern India on Sunday when he denounced the blasts and said India stood in unity with Sri Lanka.

Security was bolstered at churches across India in the wake of the Sri Lankan bombings.

The Easter Sunday blasts were the first major attack on the Indian Ocean island since the end of a civil war 10 years ago.

Seven people were arrested and three police officers were killed during a security forces raid on a house in the Sri Lankan capital several hours after the rash of attacks, some of which officials said were suicide bombs.
