The House of Representatives passed the Taxpayer First Act on Tuesday.

It includes a provision banning the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from creating a free electronic tax filing program.

The bill is being shepherded through the House Committee on Ways & Means.

According to Business Insider, the lawmakers pushing the bill have benefitted from campaign donations from tax preparation companies like H&R Block and Intuit.
