Animal Rights Activists Stage Protest in Melbourne CBD

Victoria Police made 40 arrests after animal rights activists chained themselves to vehicles parked at the busy Flinders and Swanston intersection on the morning of Monday, April 8, disrupting commuter traffic.According to police all parties were bailed to appear in court at a later date and could face jail time of up to five years.The Melbourne protest was one of many held across the country that day, including one where activists chained themselves together inside an abattoir in Goulbourn, New South Wales.
