(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison embraced ahead of a bilateral meeting in Christchurch on Friday (March 29).

Morrison was in Christchurch to attend the national memorial service held for the victims of a mass shooting at two mosques during Friday prayers two weeks ago, adding that it was a very sombre day.

During the visit, Morrison joined Australian Governor-General Peter Cosgrove and Australia's Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten to lay floral tributes at one of the mosques where the shooting took place.

The massacre in Christchurch was carried out by a lone gunman.

Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, a suspected white supremacist, has been charged with one count of murder and is likely to face more charges when he reappears in court next Friday (April 5).
