House Dems Move to Stop Trump's Emergency Declaration

House Democrats are reportedly planning to introduce a resolution Friday aimed at blocking President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration to build a wall at the southern border.

According to  The Associated Press , Texas Rep.

Joaquin Castro is planning on introducing the resolution Friday morning.

A Castro aide said there were already more than 100 co-sponsors on the one-page resolution.

Once introduced, it will likely pass a vote in the Democratic-run House.

It will then head to be voted on in the Republican-controlled Senate.

If it were to pass in the Senate, it would then go to the President, which he'll likely veto.

This would be the first veto in his presidency.  President Trump has been  hit with several legal challenges  since declaring a national emergency last Friday.  The declaration  allows the president to access certain government funding to pay for a border wall without going through Congress.

This has prompted an  investigation  by the House Judiciary Committee, as well as a  lawsuit from sixteen states , among other things.
