Melbourne Streets Become Waterways After Torrential Rain

Roads became rivers in Melbourne on Tuesday, November 6, when over a month’s worth of rain fell in the space of a few hours.

Bureau of Meteorology recorded 35 mm of rain in the Melbourne city gauge between 9 am and noon, which they said was more rain than the September and October record combined.

Thunderstorms were forecast for much of Victoria throughout the day.

Punters at the Melbourne Cup faced disruption when roads around the racecourse flooded and the railway station closed due to flooding.
