Douglas county is getting into the holiday spirit... with the umpqua valley festival of lights.

Kezi nine news reporter macy hyland is live in roseburg to show us what's new this year..


Matt the festival of lights is an important tradition in the roseburg community.

This year marks the 25th year of the festival.

And organizers decided to bring in a new element to make it extra special.

The festival will kick off sunday night at river forks park just outside of roseburg.

The founder kerwin doughtonsays it's a special festival that really brings the community together.

He says it's a tradition that transcends generations.

"we're moving into the secon generation of viewers.

I'm reminded every once in a while bya girl the other day came up and said 'i was about this tall when i first came to the festival of lights, and now we're bringing our kids.'" the event also has wagon rides, and the world's largest nutcracker.

This year two of those lighted displays will be two characters from walt disney's frozen.

Doughton says he hopes this is the beginning of a long relationship with disney.

Doughton says he hopes to keep growing and changing the festival until it sees 25 more years.

It's ten dollars a car... and wagon rides are 5 dollars per person.
