San Francisco Elects First Black Female Mayor, London Breed

San Francisco elected London Breed as its first Black female mayor on Wednesday, June 13.

London Breed is also only the second female mayor of San Francisco, Refinery29 reported.

43-year-old Breed was born in San Francisco, grew up in public housing, and was raised by her grandmother.

Breed received a master's degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco.

Before entering politics, she served as an executive director of the African American Art & Culture Complex..
